The coast between Gijon and Ribadesella in Asturias is also called ‘Dinosaur Coast‘. This is because of the presence of many original dinosaur footprints and fossil bones from dinosaurs and other Jurassic reptiles. During this tour we will visit the Jurassic Museum of Asturias, where we will learn everything about Jurassic reptiles and dinosaurs in Asturias. We will also search for original dinosaur footprints during a short walk along the beautiful coast. Finally, we’ll have lunch in beautiful Llastres.

The tour starts in the village of Colunga. Here you visit the Jurassic Museum of Asturias (MUJA), where you learn everything about the presence of dinosaurs in Asturias. The museum is build in the shape of a dinosaur footprint and located on top of a hill, beautifully overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. Dinosaurs ‘live’ in the garden around the museum, making this a fun tour for children. We guide you through the permanent exhibition of the museum.
From the museum we go to La Griega beach. Here you take a short walk along the cliffs to search for dinosaur footprints. These sauropods footprints are among the largest in the world!
Finally, you go to nearby LLastres, one of the prettiest fishing villages in Asturias. After a short stroll through the harbor you can enjoy a fresh seafood dish with amazing views over the Cantabrian sea.
