If you’re looking for a trip that includes something active, something relaxing, and a well-earned ‘something tasty’, you’re in for a treat! Oviedo is the perfect place to experience this three-part itinerary. This tour gives you the opportunity to be a real Ovetense by hiking a 10k Senda Verde, relaxing in an 18th century Spa and eating a typical Asturian ‘Menú del Día’!
We start this fun-packed day by hiking a 10km ‘Senda Verde’. This is a ‘green route’ that leads you past the Asturian countryside, mountain tunnels and even the river Nalon. With a bit of luck, we’ll also be able to spot the surrounding wildlife, which includes vultures!
After working our legs and discovering Asturian history, we’ll take a well-deserved break… And what better way to do that than by relaxing at an 18th century spa? Release all your tensions in its world-class saunas and pools– you’ll feel like a brand new person afterwards.
Last but not least is the food! There’s all kinds of restaurants in Oviedo, but to really immerse yourself into the Asturian experience, we’d recommend trying a ‘Menú del Día’, a hearty 3-course meal with delicious local delicacies. From the traditional bean stew ‘fabada’ to the popular veal fillet ‘cachopo’, there’s a dish for everyone.
So why not try it yourself? There’s no better way to experience Oviedo than by hiking, eating and relaxing. Read on to find out more about what’s in store for you…
We start in Parque de Invierno in the south of Oviedo. The route follows an old railway line, of which we’ll tell you more during our hike. The car-free road starts in the park but soon leads through the Asturian countryside with its cows and typical wooden ‘Horreos’. We also walk through some tunnels underneath the mountains and cross Asturias’ most important river, the Nalon.
During our hike we tell you more about the natural surroundings and history. With a bit of luck we’ll spot some vultures!
After 10k, we arrive at the Spa. Here you have the option to spend 2.5 hours in its warm water and saunas. Note that the entrance to the Spa is not included in the price of this tour! The price differs per day, and to avoid that you pay more than the entrance fee of that specific day, you will pay for your visit yourself (between 14 and 25 euros p.p).
After this, we’ll have a well-deserved Menu del Dia (three-course menu) in one of the village’s restaurants. Then, we will together take the taxi back to Oviedo.
